Do I need prior exhibition experience or a complete portfolio?
No, YFC supports both emerging and established artists and can provide inexperienced artists with creative and practical assistance. If you would like assistance please make a note of this on your application.
What does it cost?
- Use of a large (5 metre length) wall for a solo exhibition is $100 per month.
- Use of a medium (3 metre) wall alongside another exhibition is $60 per month.
- Use of a small (2 metre) wall alongside another exhibition is $40 per month.
Note: Payment to be made in advance to confirm booking.
Can I have a joint exhibition with another person?
Yes – please mention your desire to have a joint exhibition in your application.
Can I organise a group exhibition (3 or more people)?
Yes, group exhibitions cost $120 (payed in advance) for use of a large (5 metre length) wall.
What is the criteria for artwork to be accepted?
Artwork must promote intimacy with God, be family friendly.
What does ‘artworks that promotes intimacy with God’ mean?
Artworks do not need to be explicitly Christian, however they should convey a Christian message. For example, a landscape photography exhibition promotes intimacy with God by celebrating God's creativity and designs in nature.
How long will my exhibition run and when will it be?
Exhibitions will proceed for a minimum of 1 month and a maximum of 3 months. You will be offered available exhibition dates to choose from.
Can I have an opening event?
YFC encourages artists to host an opening for their exhibition and will make the YFC facilities available at a pre-organised time for 3 hours, plus 1 hour to set up and 1 hour to clean up (a total of 5 hours). Use of the space for openings costs $50 to cover amenities.
Artists will be required to provide their own non-alcoholic refreshments and to leave the venue neat and tidy. A gold coin donation or ‘entrance fee’ may be collected by artists to assist in covering costs if desired.
Who will visit my exhibition?
Your exhibition will be on display for all groups and events that take place at the YFC auditorium. You can also negotiate designated times when your exhibition will be open to the public.
Will my artworks be insured during the exhibition?
No. Unfortunately, YFC’s insurance does not cover your artworks, so the exhibition is ‘at your own risk’.
Note: For this reason please be tactful about the materials and display options that you choose, including how high or low artworks are displayed on the wall (remembering the auditorium is used by all ages). Please also consider the strength of the hanging materials you use, you may like to explore durability options such framing artworks, or using acrylic plexi-glass when framing. You are also welcome to explore personally insuring your works.
